These are all great ways to do it. But for those of you who were unsuccessful in the previous two attempts like poor ole me, I found yet another way, the only catch is that you have to have Microsoft One Note. Save the SPDF into OneNote and you can thus save it from there to .doc . Ive tried both of the above on my E-Book in Vista SP1, yet it failed to let me save it in an usecure way.

Oracle Corporation is what secures my docs and possible everyone else, so i had the most secure document encryption. Mine wouldn't even open until i provide a specific algorithm code.

Thanks

I have been a long time linux user and would appreciate
a little clarification on using usbboot1 and usbboot2.

I looked at my debian netinst.iso and I see no suck files.

Can you send me a little more details about the last steps
when using usbboot1 and usbboot2.

Thanks,

I've liked Unlinker since before it was on AMO, but I've been running into one problem that just irritates the hell out of me. And there's no place to report bugs.

Unlinker, when turning Youtube URLs into links, has two issues:
1. If the URL is *already* an href, it shouldn't be touched at all.
2. It sets the link text to black regardless of the background color of the page. This has caused me numerous problems when I'm reading a page with a black background and suddenly the embedded youtube links are no longer visible.

Unlinker shouldn't be applying any special styles to anchor tags - it should be using the page default, whatever that may be.

Anyone involved with cron job scheduling might find this resource useful.
Cron Sandbox at HxPI is an interactive webpage where you can play with crontab command strings.
Enter your 'm h D M Dw' parameters and immediately see all the times cron would run your job in the coming days/weeks.
Newcomers to cron job scheduling get a safe place to learn crontab commands and try examples from tutorials.
System Administrators get a forward schedule to help manage system loading.

Hmm...

The form submission script stripped parts of the code from my previous post. Here is the sequence again with '_' instead of '> .sql
mysql -u_user_ -p_pass_ < _dbname_.sql

Not specifying the option --databases in mysqldump will not add the CREATE DATABASE into the output.sql file.

In addition, if you add the name of the database to the command line when restoring the database, will result in the following error:
ERROR 1049 (42000): Unknown database 'db_name'.

The correct sequence is:
mysqldump -u -p --databases > .sql
mysql -u -p < .sql

Cheers,

Pimmy

Microsoft releasing a security alert is something of an oxymoron; especially in regards to browsers. It's interesting to see one of the best browsers on the internet have such problems when migrating to Windows, yet Apple gets the blame.

The real deal behind offering a free OS to the OLPC project is that there is a BIG string attatched to the project, when those children become men there will be easier for them to choose Windows instead of linux because they grew up using windows. It is a little brainwash, a small investment from Microsoft that in the end won't help others than them....

Apple tried the same thing but was rejected for linux and now Microsoft made the right move, take advantage of the stumbling project, provided fresh cash and a "free OS".

This is a corporate world, everything is negotiable.

Hi!

Thanks for the solution provided. Just hate the crappy SPDF documents and all their limitations. Tried the alternate method mentioned here. Did not get it to work as smoothly as described here though. Had a large SPDF document (about 600 pages) and when I tried to write it to a XPS document it stopped at 536 pages and left me an error. The solution was to make two prints, creating two XPS documents, 300 pages each, and made two PDF documents with pdfcreator. A million times better than the SPDF document anyway. Thanks!

For those searching for the answer to this nightmare... (Like I had been)

This was a great document...

However, I found what I think is a simpler solution (i.e. all completed in one XP device)

Open your spdf and print it to the "Microsoft XPS Document Writer"... It will open a dialog box asking where to save the document... Then it will render a .XPS document in that location... Then you will be able to open the docuement with an XPS viewer... Open it... And print the document to your desired .pdf creation utility (I used pdfcreator)... Tried almost every other method to no avail... This works! It even cut the .pdf file down to 1/2 the size of the .spdf document!!!

Only follow up thing to do is open your Printers and Faxes>Microsoft XPS Document Writer... then delete out the "print job" that it has left there in an error state...
